MYTH: All Fat is bad. It is true that total fat intake should not exceed 30% of your daily caloric intake and saturated fat should provide less than 10%, but what does fat do for you? In addition to aiding in digestive process, contributing to healthy skin and hair and aiding in other bodily functions, Fat fires the brain. You can’t do without it. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats can lower your risk of heart disease by reducing total cholesterol and low density (LDL) cholesterol, omega-3 fatty acids, one of the polyunsaturated fats, appears to decrease risk for coronary artery disease and may also protect against irregular heartbeats and help lower blood pressure.
